Andrew Sperl
FDNP, phc
Owner & Operator, Peak Human Function.
Peak Human Function was created to help high-performing individuals restore the biological capacity required to sustain demanding lives.
Entrepreneurs, executives, athletes, and high performers often operate under constant pressure. Over time, that pressure can quietly reshape physiology — affecting energy, cognition, recovery, hormones, digestion, and resilience.
Most people do not notice the shift immediately.
They simply find themselves working harder to maintain the same level of performance.
My work focuses on identifying the hidden stress patterns and physiological adaptations that limit performance, and developing structured strategies to restore function.
The goal is not temporary improvement.
The goal is building a system where high performance becomes sustainable again.
A Systems-Based Approach to Performance Health
My work combines principles from functional diagnostic nutrition, systems biology, and performance optimization.
This approach focuses on identifying the hidden stressors and physiological patterns that most traditional approaches overlook.
Depending on the individual, this may include evaluating:
• stress physiology and nervous system load
• hormonal communication patterns
• digestive and gut function
• nutrient absorption and metabolic pathways
• inflammation and detoxification capacity
Using targeted functional lab testing alongside lifestyle and symptom analysis, we can create a clear map of what is limiting performance and how to correct it.
From there, we build a personalized protocol that aligns nutrition, lifestyle, recovery practices, and strategic supplementation.
Core Values
Peak Human Function is built on a few core principles.
Personal Responsibility
High performance requires ownership of both results and health.
Clear Thinking
Health decisions should be guided by data, physiology, and structured reasoning — not guesswork.
Long-Term Performance
Short-term fixes rarely produce lasting results. Sustainable performance requires addressing root causes.
High Standards
The individuals I work with expect precision, professionalism, and thoughtful strategy.
Those same standards guide the work we do together.
Training & Certification
Andrew Sperl is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDNP) trained in systems-based health analysis and functional lab interpretation.
This training focuses on identifying hidden stressors affecting the body's core systems and restoring optimal function through strategic lifestyle, nutritional, and supplemental interventions.
Additionally, he is a certified Primal Health Coach (PHC) from the Primal Health Coaching Institute, trained in leveraging ancestral health principles based in evolutionary science to optimize diet and lifestyle.
andrew’s story
From a very early age, Andrew knew that health was going to be a central theme of his life. He started playing sports at five, and began weight training at 12 years old. Sports and fitness were his medicine – something he was truly passionate about and could not go a day without doing. This led to countless athletic achievements and eventually the opportunity to play Football at the Division 1AA level at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was also very interested in finding the “perfect diet”, but like most people, followed traditional advice when it came to this. He knew something was missing.
After college, he unfortunately fell into the same trap most do once they enter the workforce. He still worked out 5-6 days a week, but that wasn’t enough to mitigate the damage being done from working 50+ hrs a week in a high stress environment, getting poor sleep, eating out far too often, and living in a toxic environment. He knew there was a better way. This set him on a mission to find answers. After a very deep dive into his own personal research, he came across Mark Sisson and the Primal Blueprint. This opened his eyes for the first time to the fact that what he had learned in school about health and nutrition, and what most people believed to be true, was either completely false or at least there was much more to that story. He adopted a primal diet and lifestyle, and immediately noticed significant changes – dropping 20 lbs in the first month, feeling the cobwebs of brain fog disappear, experiencing unlimited energy. It was like a light bulb went off, and he craved more information. He wondered “What else have I been wrong about this whole time?”
This curiosity led him on a journey for the next 15+ years to gain more knowledge that he could put into practice in his own life. He read dozens of books on topics like functional medicine, biohacking, epigenetics, mitochondrial function, living a holistic lifestyle, the food system, etc. He was part of the first Primal Health Coaching certification program, and he continued to incorporate what he learned into his lifestyle.
After the birth of his kids, he once again found himself in a less than ideal situation. The added stress of being a parent and getting little to no sleep, on top of building a growing digital marketing business, and all while living in a house with mold (unknown at the time), led to him experiencing a drop in the vitality and performance that he had become so accustomed to. On the outside, he looked the same and projected the same level of health and confidence as before, but there was a noticeable drop in energy, brain fog creeping back in, and an inability to handle stressful situations with the same success.
Luckily, he had the opportunity to sell his business and to no longer be locked down to one place. He took full advantage of this opportunity to move his family to the sunny state of Florida where they would no longer be stuck inside the house for six months of the year. They could have abundant sunshine and physical activity. He was also now free to pursue his passion in health as a new career. After extensive research, he chose to get his certification through Functional Diagnostic Nutrition because he felt they offered a program that would provide him with all of the tools necessary to uncover the hidden causes of a person’s health challenges, as well as the proper framework needed to create strategic protocols with a high level of personalization that was different from the countless one-size-fits-all programs existing in the health coaching industry.
During his coursework, Andrew was able to leverage the information from the program in addition to several functional lab screenings to get to the root of his own health challenges, and create a protocol that would bring back the energy, vitality, and function he used to have. Graduating in December of 2025, he set his sites on creating a functional health coaching business geared towards helping high performers to unwind the metabolic chaos that exists from working in high stress environments and needing to perform no matter what. As someone that has been a high performer throughout his own life in athletics, in fitness, in high pressure sales, and as a small business owner, he can relate to the never-ending chronic stress and how essential it is to ensure the body and all of it’s systems are working in a high state of function. This is critical to the “high performer” in order to have the resilience needed to consistently perform.
Outside of work, Andrew loves to be active in every way possible whether that is going to crossfit, getting strength workouts in at home, going for a ruck, run, or bike ride, or whatever feels good at the moment. He’s avid sports fan and competitor at his core. Most of his time, though, centers around his wife (Kelsey) and two children (Lena and Leo). They are his reason for getting up each day and striving to live a life of service and most importantly to be a good father/husband/man.
Restore Your Capacity for High Performance
If you are pushing hard but your energy, resilience, or recovery are no longer keeping up, it may be time to take a deeper look at what your physiology is telling you.
Peak Human Function helps identify the underlying patterns limiting performance and provides a clear path toward restoring capacity.
